I don't know where should I raise this question so I will put it here.

I assume the numbers in the batch status referred to workunits, in the old way. However as you mentioned in other posts, you rearranged the workload somehow to average out the computing time distribution. How should I read the batch status now? Is the number still representing the number of units we need to work on till that batch is done?

It is addressed that the CPU algorithm is a lot more efficient than the GPU one (soon after the GPU task was introduced) so you do not see the GPU credit being far superior than the CPU one (comparing to all those prime number projects).

If you want to compare credits/hour with other projects you may need to take how well the programs utilize CPU into account. Physic related projects sometimes yields lower credits because they are not pushing CPUs into limit like math program does, especially Primegrid -- prime detection algorithms are well developed and well optimized for performance.

As a long time user here I guess I will just crunch some over the time regardless of the credits...

Ah thanks for the explanation. I should come back to have a try after finishing the current batch of work on my hand.

In fact, I wondered why there aren't short tasks anymore some time ago, but that explains it now.

Given that workunits for this project are either extremely short or steadily long, I won't be surprised if cherry pickers rush in because it's too easy to sort out those long tasks. Are there any motivation behind this?

Go and check the news on algorithm updates. GPU app is still in beta and credits given to GPU tasks aren't even finalized.

Is it just me or is the new app more demanding/efficient than the original one? It's making more heat :d

Not like I am complaining but I am just curious to know, so that I can switch between tasks during the hotter days.

Good to know it comes back. I got trouble finding other desirable projects :P

Is it possible to have a 2017 review as well?

Recently I just received a SF4 9x271 task

https://numberfields.asu.edu/NumberFields/result.php?resultid=18940745

But when I check the batch status it says all 9x271 tasks are completed. Is it normal for batch status to show something like that?

(Well I just ask out of curiosity -- a single task won't really affect the approximation towards overall progress, which is after all what I want to know from the batch status page. It is interesting to see an oddity out of all those long 12x271 tasks lol)

If my understanding were correct it's like doing probabilistic primality test - the chance of getting it wrong decrease exponentially with the number of trials. Getting error of it is not impossible but virtually impossible.
