I have a workunit running with 3 days of CPU-time now, over the deadline. It's been days past 90%, it's not making any progress, it seems. What should I do with it? It's this one, the time remaining is 8 seconds for hours.

I have seen this myself once before where it seemed to be stuck at 99.999% for something like 20 hours. The good news is it eventually did finish.

If you end up being denied credit because someone finishes before you, let me know and I will credit you.

I need to shut it down at night. Will it ever end when I do that? It's constantly at 99.98%

That's a good question. I think what you are asking is if it will hit a checkpoint before you need to turn it off. You could look at the time stamp on the checkpoint file to see when it last changed (it's the file in the slot directory that ends in "_state").

Are you physically shutting down the computer or just suspending BOINC? In the latter case, something I find useful is to set the "Suspend to RAM" option. Then check-pointing becomes a moot point.

I'm phisically shutting it down, but the last checkpoint was 3 hours ago while its running fir more than 12, so it mae some progress.

Then to answer your original question, yes it should eventually finish.
