Which CPU is best for this project? No special optimizations were done, so either. However, my wife's AMD seems to be a tad slower on average than my intels even though she has a slightly faster clock. |

Normaly Intel is better as AMD. Look at this: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2500K CPU @ 3.30GHz [Family 6 Model 42 Stepping 7] [4 Cores] Measured floating point speed 3394 million ops/sec OR AuthenticAMD AMD A4-5000 APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics [Family 22 Model 0 Stepping 1] [4 Cores] Measured floating point speed 1354.55 million ops/sec The first example is 1,5 years old the second 0,5 years old and a laptop. Which CPU is best for this project? My friend's AMD is about 3X faster than his Intel on this project. The AMD's clock speed is a tad slower than the Intel's. Warning: Generalizations such as the one in your question will get you all sorts of meaningless answers. BOINC FAQ Service Official BOINC wiki Installing BOINC on Linux |
