I am new to BOINC and just installed it a few days ago. I am running a Windows 7 64-bit PC with way more than enough RAM to easily run BOINC in a background without any noticeable performance decrease. I am an ASU computer science student so I selected the NumberFields@Home project since it is hosted by ASU. These past couple days the BOINC manager connected fine or at least appeared to connect all right. Today, however, the BOINC manager is displaying a message that says "Unable to communicate to the core client" and comes up blank. However, in the Windows task manager, the BOINC tasks are running the same way as they always were. How do I get this thing working correctly, and what should I do to correct this error? |

Joshua, Sorry I didn't see this before. I had a similar issue in Linux and I think it was a problem with the port the manager uses to communicate with the core client. You may have to reboot. It could be windows thinks the old manager is running or virus scan has a problem with the port. I found other similar complaints in other projects. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=71178 http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7550 --Greg |
