I used the Update button on the Boinc Manager, but I am receiving no downloads.

I am also not receiving subscripted email notifications.

Can you tell me if there were any error messages or warnings in the event log? After the DNS change finally went through overnight, I was still unable to communicate with the project. I had to restart the boinc client to get it to work. Not sure if you're having a similar issue, but you could always try that.

I'm still not getting email notices. I'm only answering this post because I'm checking in on the thread looking for your responses.

I tried to Suspend the other projects so only NumberFields was operational, but that didn't help either. Sometimes I have to do that to get WCG to send me WUs.

I restarted the Boinc Manager to get this, but still no joy...

I don't see any sign of you clicking the project 'Update' button. That would have been a helpful bit of log to include.

I used the Update button on the Boinc Manager, but I am receiving no downloads.

OK, we've solved that one: you're not receiving any tasks because you're not requesting them. In due course, NumberFields will take its place in the requesting cycle.

I am also not receiving subscripted email notifications.

That sounds as if Eric will have to have a look at the configuration of the sendmail program (or whatever it's called) on the new server.

My bad! I completely forgot to setup the sendmail program. Thanks for reminding me Richard!

What is the point of an Update button, if it doesn't update anything?
How long is this requesting cycle supposed to take?

The purpose of the update button is to do whatever needs to be done - to bring things up to date. It doesn't magically create a need for more work where no need exists - it isn't a 'fetch new work' button.

How long is this requesting cycle supposed to take?

It takes whatever the difference is between the low water mark and the high water mark in your personally chosen 'maintain enough tasks' Computing preference, allowing for whatever work you may have fetched from the many other projects on whose message boards you've asked this kind of question.

If you want to know when work fetch is imminent, enable the <work_fetch_debug> logging flag in your client, and study the event log.

I guess I'll just have to go with the projects I already have, if I can't get a download from this project.

In your computing preferences, try increasing this parameter:
"Maintain enough tasks to keep busy for at least xx days"

I used this feature when I brought my laptop with me on vacation. There was no wifi where I was going, so this allowed me to download a week's worth of work prior to leaving. Of course, you will get extra WUs from your other projects also, so you might want to suspend them first.

Well, I installed sendmail and I can send myself test emails from the server command line. But the php code doesn't seem to be sending the email notifications as I thought it would. Something else must need configuring...

Well, it's working for me too now. It just took longer than I expected to receive the emails.

I guess that means it's fixed.

Just a heads up...

I installed sendmail using my sudo power. I informed the sys admin that maintains the computer, just so that they were aware of it. They just let me know that they think this is in violation of ASU's IT security policy (apparently there are some security vulnerabilities with sendmail). They will find out for sure on Monday. So the email notifications may be temporarily down on Monday until we find a work around.
