We will be upgrading the server hardware in the next 2 to 3 weeks. This should be a smooth transition; however, any user still using the old url (stat.la.asu.edu) needs to change this to the new alias (numberfields.asu.edu/NumberFields). This can easily be done by removing/adding the project. The alias is in place now, so this can be done anytime before the upgrade. Thanks!

I just re-attached and found that even if you remove and re-attach to the project with the new URL, you still have one reference to "stat.la.asu.edu" in the client_state.xml file.

<scheduler_url>http://stat.la.asu.edu/NumberFields_cgi/cgi</scheduler_url>

The other places in client_state.xml have the new URL. I haven't checked the other xml files yet.

Is this something you can change from your end sometime before the move or will we have to re-attach again?

Good catch! I had changed all references to "stat" on the new machine, but hadn't considered changing it on the old machine. I am unsure how often the client updates the config (maybe only with a reattach?), so to be safe I just changed it on the old machine also.

In your case David, let's wait to see if the client picks up the new change. If not, then you will need to reattach again.

Just to be safe, I removed the project and went to re-add. I choose the project and it looks like it want add, then nothing. I get this in the event log.

4/24/2013 2:31:24 PM | | Fetching configuration file from http://numberfields.asu.edu/NumberFields/get_project_config.php

I get a failure.

Thanks,

John

I tested this a week ago with no problems. I will test again tonight after I get home. Has anyone else had a problem reattaching?

Small glitch - at least one of the external statistics sites (BOINC Combined Statistics) was still using the old address, and hence has stopped updating. That particular one matters more than most, because it generates the data for the "Projects in which you are participating" section at the foot of users' account pages, at all Boinc projects.

I've tried to get a message through via the boinc_stats mailing list, but that seems very dormant - I don't know if it'll work.

Hi Richard,

no, it doesn´t work now. The last update was 2 days ago.
I´ll writing Davis at afternoon, to report him this problem. The url had to be changed in BOINC CS, Free DC, and the other statistic sites.

cheers,
Aurel

I've just had a reply to say he got the message, and indeed 'BOINC Combined Statistics' is showing the right url on the first link above - cross-project stats should start updating again properly now.

Yes, at "BOINC CS" ist all right. Only Free DC, Boinc all projekt statistics and other sides have the old data´s, points. But by the next update, we´ll come our Points. ;)

Cheers,
Aurel

Thanks guys for your help with this.

Greg tried to contact these sites prior to the migration. He was able to get through to some, but had trouble with others such as Boinc CS (which is apparently the important one).
